Peter K Hall was born in the English Midlands. In his youth he cycled the length of Britain, from John O'Groats to Lands End. After receiving a Leverhulme Scholarship to study at the London School of Economics he joined the British Overseas Civil Service where he served as an educator and administrator in East Africa. During his time in Tanganyika/ Tanzania he co-founded the first Adult Education programme in East Africa. He also presented a weekly classical music programme for Radio Tanzania.
He later became an academic historian, specialising in Japan and Latin America.
He is the author of several novels, various plays and a volume of poetry.
